Every meal starts off with bread and olive oil, a nice touch that we always appreciate. At the same time, it also means that I'm particular. Don't be tricked into thinking it's subpar because it's located above a shopping mall! Contact the business for more information about recent service changes. It had been a while since I'd visited one of my favourite dinner date places with a good friend. We've been addicted to Il Mercato since the early days in the mid-90s at the NFB building. The last time I went I had the lobster ravioli with the grilled vegtable salad and it was fantastic.

The pasta dishes I am told were excellent although the seafood linguine won the competition. And it's damn good. Try the pumpkin ravioli.

The ravioli's were not that great and the sauce tasted a bit like it had been cooking far too long and it was a bit 'gloopy'. Total meal was about 30 bucks a person with tip but it was definitely worth every penny from the top notch customer service to the flavourful food!

It's consistently awesome!Something has changed at Il Mercato over the last year or so.

Their desserts are pretty good but overpriced IMO, *unless* you're getting a piece of pie. The lemon roulade for dessert was exceptional As the second location of one of the city's most popular Italian restaurants, Il Mercato manages to deliver even from the second floor of a Bedford shopping mall. I've been before as well to the one on Spring Garden so knew what to expect.Excellent pasta and antipasto, certainly worth the slightly inflated price tag! This has to be one of my favorite restaurants. This is the spot in Bedford.

It's glorified, pretty Italian food. We are starting to become regulars @ilmercatosunnyside! I dream about it.

Of course we had…"We are an authentic Italian trattoria, specializing in authentic Italian flavours.First time here! I had the penne roasted free range chicken and the flavour was excellent. I've eaten at all the locations, new and old, dozens of times.

The decor and atmosphere is excellent, service is always prompt and friendly, and the food is outstanding. Absolutely stunning inside and out.

I was expecting the food to be incredible before I got here just by looking at the website and the reviews and they definitely met all expectations!

The lamb was good but not great. I should be up front. I have high expectations of lamb and this was only average although the meal was well presented and very tasty vegetables. Who doesn't love great Italian? !Ahhhh, Il Mercato. The litmus test? are better. So that means that I'm predisposed to liking any restaurant that has a name where I have to roll my Rs.

I routinely crave items on their menu.

Date night dinner or out with a few couples? I visited twice while I was in Halifax (which speaks volumes as I rarely do this when traveling).

And Il Mercato does it consistently each and every time I go there. And honestly! By the time I was done eating I didn't have room for dessert. The room is nice and they hire and keep excellent staff. how impressive.

I really felt, because of the atmosphere and decor, that I was transported to a different place.

I will pimp myself out for anything Italian.

Delivery & Pickup Options - 42 reviews of Il Mercato "First time here! I was shocked to enter this restaurnt through the mall and be taken away to a different place once we reached the top. The pizza di lingua (or something like that) is yummy and so is their lasagna, though I wish they would leave out the dark meat as the wrong piece can make that particular bite taste "off". The gluten free carrot cake was one of the best gluten free desserts I have ever had.three of us ate here on Christmas Eve.

The food isn't quite as good as it used to be, though it's still pretty yummy. Hubby orders the chicken ravioli every single time and raves about it and wishes there was more. "I loveeee this place! we were not disappointed. When the hubby and I feel like a nice dinner out but not like trekking the whole way into the city, Il Mercato in Bedford is always our number one pick. I was expecting the food to be incredible before I got here just by looking at the website and the reviews and they definitely met all expectations! Great meal in a lovely setting. I had the chicken ravioli with gorgonzola brown butter sauce. Guess it was an off night. Let me count the ways.

They're very accommodating about special requests if you have food allergies or are vegetarian/vegan.
So well thought out and the attention to detail is amazing! The food, service, and atmosphere is completely consistent - at times even better, offering quieter ambience with some tremendously nice design touches. My boyfriend took me here on Saturday night for my birthday dinner. Definitely a spot to return for special occasions! Not sure why I've waited this long to review my fave Italian restaurant in town - although people will be quick to tell me that Amano, Bicycle Thief, etc. Not once have I had a poor experience.Went here for the second time early January 2013.

Gluten free options w a staff that's very knowledgeable about allergies/safe food handling. My quick rebuttal is that I haven't been there - but soon.Like the place.. almost everything is fresh and tasty..
For dessert the others had peanut butter cups and it had a whipped topping that was to die for. It takes a lot to really impress me when it comes to Italian food.
