";s:4:"text";s:3810:" — Crane Beach – The Trustees (@CraneBeachMass) May 19, 2020. It was closed at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in late March, but Ipswich residents were still given access because the town owns some of the property. Now as COVID-19 restrictions are eased, The Trustees have come up with a plan they hope will protect staff and the public. This plan will run through June 2 while The Trustees test out operations, At this week’s select board meeting, Crane Estate Director Peter Pinciaro said The Trustees have been working with the town for the last two months in anticipation of reopening for the summer. To minimize the risk of beachgoers infecting staff or each other, Pinciaro said normal capacity is limited to less than 50%.Tickets can be bought in advance only, but The Trustees tweeted on May 19 that they were already sold out.We launched the season with Members Only access for the first 2 weeks and are sold out through that time. We purchased the parking pass this year and plan on making many more visits this summer. I understand the need to control crowds during Covid but restricting access to only those who can pay this fee is not a great solution in my view. For only $30 more, enjoy more benefits with a Supporting Membership – including one complimentary Crane Beach Parking Permit and free admission to thousands of Museums across North America. People with fishing stickers can still park outside the gates after hours. At the meeting, town manager Tony Marino announced the CATA summer bus service from the MBTA station to the beach will not run this year. However, gatherings of 10 or more are still prohibited, so there will be no big parties on the beach.People will still need to bring masks in case it proves impossible to socially distance at choke points in the beach or parking lot.Indoor showers and changing areas are to remain closed, along with drinking fountains.Pinciaro said the state told The Trustees to close their composing toilets. ... to secure access to Crane Beach.
