Each summer, our acclaimed youth leadership program gathers two diverse groups of high school students to spend a week in the mountains of western North Carolina. There’s plenty of social and free time for delegates to relax and get to know one another.ANYTOWN is an incredible opportunity to meet other students from all over Guilford County. We are best known for ANYTOWN, our flagship youth leadership summer program. As the world leader in volunteerism we feel a responsibility to unite our broader community, and to use this moment to become stronger.

These topics include racism, sexism, homophobia, interfaith relations, and cultural differences. Anytown brings together a diverse group of students from high schools across the region for a weeklong residential experienceThrough interactive workshops, discussions and games delegates explore topics like prejudice, discrimination, and bias. . . Snacks are also available for purchase during free time in the afternoon. Once the delegate has been accepted at attend ANYTOWN, we’ll provide you with the mailing address, emergency phone number, and a number to call for ANYTOWN updates.One of ANYTOWN’s primary goals is to build a community through group interaction.
Then they take what they’ve learned back home, making a difference in their schools and everywhere they go.ANYTOWN is a week-long human relations and leadership development program for rising 11th and 12th graders who live or go to school in Guilford County. Delegates create a model for an ideal community based on respect, understanding, and inclusivity, in which members not just tolerate, but celebrate each other’s differences. Together, they tackle tough topics like race, religion, and gender identity, learning to respectfully bridge their differences and build an inclusive community. Students will not call home to let you know that they have arrived safely, but NCCJ will update our phone message and Facebook page to let you know when delegates have arrived.
Students make great friends, build their college resumes and have a ton of fun. Founded in 1957, NCCJ ANYTOWN is designed to educate, liberate, and empower youth participants (delegates) to become effective, responsible leaders and community builders. The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey and RWJBarnabas Health are the state-wide sponsors of Anytown and provide need-based funding for this program to schools that are able to demonstrate financial need. There will be free time every day where delegates can be outside. Ten or more adult advisors stay in nearby cabins.
We offer generous tuition assistance.We’ll provide a packing list once a delegate is accepted to attend ANYTOWN.No. In addition, two adult co-directors oversee the entire week of ANYTOWN. ANYTOWN tuition and fees are $650.
You’ll also earn 40 service learning hours for the week at ANYTOWN.We hold ANYTOWN at the Blowing Rock Conference Center (BRCC) in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina.
Tuition for ANYTOWN includes round-trip bus transportation to and from Smith High School in Greensboro.There are 12 peer counselors (college-aged students who went to ANYTOWN in high school), with one assigned to each cabin. Have the medication ready to present at check-in before boarding the bus.Everyone gets three big meals and two snacks per day. Everyone sleeps in cabins which have bunk beds with sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels furnished. Interactive activities bring to life some of the tough social issues facing today’s world.
Families are encouraged to write letters to their students. These items are distracting and cause some people to isolate themselves from the rest of the group.

Anytown is an amazing opportunity for students who are currently in 9th – 11th grades to spend a week developing leadership skills and learning about social justice issues. These delegates are diverse in race, culture, religion, school, and socio-economic background. We do not allow weapons, tobacco products, alcohol or other drugs at ANYTOWN. They will decide together if the student will keep the medicine or if the medical advisor will keep it for them. Delegates are not allowed to bring a cell phone.
