The movie experience was good. This is a very modern and fresh museum. Good overview for visitors and for those who live in Austin, there is always more to explore and add to or refresh one's knowledge base. Activity guides, conversation carts, and interactive experiences add to the opportunities every family member has to find their place in Texas history. The third floor of the museum focuses on the theme Creating Opportunity, embracing the many ways people have made a living in the Lone Star State.
Bullock Texas State History Museum: See the revamped first floor.
Located between the University of Texas campus and the Texas State Capitol, this interactive state history museum houses many artifacts of the story of Texas, including its Hispanic heritage, in three themes—land, identity, and opportunity—with each sweeping theme given its own floor of exhibits. This is a very modern and fresh museum. Our Mission Opened in 2001 as the official history museum of the State of Texas, we engage the broadest possible audience to interpret the continually unfolding Story of Texas through meaningful educational experiences. Bullock was also the first elected state official to adopt an equal opportunity employment ... after Bullock's death, it was named in his honor. (Through artifacts, documents, and films, the second floor gallery explores Texas history from 1821 to 1936. The exhibits are informative and well thought out.
