Songs like "Straighten it out", "Soul Brother #1" and "It's like that" have everything that I'm missing so desperately in most recent Rap acts: deep basslines, beefy old school beats, convincing lyrics and a lot of soul. T.R.O.Y.を初めて聞いて衝撃が走ったのがきっかけ。あのトラックとC.L.smoothさんのラップのノリにはやみつきになりました。非常に素晴らしいです。とてもjazzyでクラシカルでコーヒーのような味わい深いアルバムです。個人的には「Soul Brother Number 1」の曲が一番大好きです。C.L.smoothさんのラップももちろん最高ですがあのトラックがやみつきですね。なんかホーンテッドマンションっぽいお化け屋敷と墓場があって、夜にそのわきを車でドライブしている感じを思い浮かべました。次アルバムの「Main Ingredient」も非常にお勧めします。 Pete Rock & C.L.Smooth が好きな方には「O.C.」の1stアルバムも非常にお勧め致します。こちらもとてもjazzyです。

他の名盤と共にhip hopの歴史上最高峰を占める一枚。ヒップホップ本来の手法から作成されたトラック群はメインストリームとは違って永遠に色褪せる事がありません。中でもt-royを失った悲しみをtom scottのループに乗せたt.r.o.yは海外では卒業式にも流れる程別格に完成度が高く、正にクラシック中のクラシックです。90'sの焼き直しを思わせるアングラ系を聞く前に聞いて欲しい一枚です。 Does this pressing have the exact etchings as the original EU-pressing or did they add some additional details like the repress of The Main Ingredient?
