I've just finished 4 years studying and working full time so although I'd like a relaxing holiday, a holiday in the US is also attractive as neither of us have been there before. Any advice you could give would be great. Although we had a fabulous time in the islands of the pacific but Samoa was the place we had more fun and more to see. Thank you.I have spent a lot of time in both Samoa and California over the years and as you say they are both very different, you need to make a list of your priorities to help you make the right choice.Samoa is a manageable size, California is huge with so much to see but transport is not easy unless you have a Then there is prices - you can get some not bad deals mid range hotels in California and restaurant prices are cheap, Samoa fales are of course really cheap if you like camping type accommodation ( and two meals are included) but the food can be expensive at better hotels and resorts. Diving and snorkeling? Hanging out on the beach? Beaches are great both places but there are more in a smaller area in Samoa ( but there is a small fee if you aren't staying on the beach you want to visit)....shopping is obviously better in California ....I prefer to have plenty of time when in California, buy a Clinkie05, it's best to start your own thread so that the responses to your post don't hijack the OP's post. If it's surfing, go to Samoa.

Essentially, you would do best to pick one smaller part of California and spend your week exploring that area, For example: all that the city has to offer, over the Golden Gate to Marin to see the redwoods and the gorgeous coast, maybe a day in Napa Valley.another fabulous coastline, wineries in Anderson Valley, Ukiah, Redwood Valley, lots of great hiking & redwood forestsBeautiful beaches, funky seaside towns & upscale enclaves, great wineriesCentral Coast, Los Angeles .
