From the junction with Barley Pond Trail, after passing along a few suburban backyards, the trail veers off to the left. Soon, you'll be able to see where the railroad crossed the Little Gunpowder Falls. Uneven terrain with small rocks or roots.Steep. Technical terrain with no alternate lines.Moderately steep. unfortunately I took one by mistake that was just a side trail due to the main trail being poorly marked at points. Overall, good with a few turns that were not super clear, but overall a nice easy trail to hike and seemingly enjoyable mountain bike ride! Uneven terrain with small rocks or roots.Steep. For the most part, the trails parallel the Little Gunpowder river. One part of the trail was a bit over grown and there were a few muddy spots but nothing impassable.
Parking lots are located directly at the Trailheads. After crossing this section of the river the trail is pretty flat all the way to Bel Air Rd. Really nice view afer going up the hill along Bel Air road going to Hartford Road. Once you start the orange marked portion, also call Jesse's Trail it begins to get steeper and rocky. I found it to be a good hike for a beginner.The white trail was great, we enjoyed with the kids and dog. Little Gunpowder Falls is located along the Harford County/Baltimore County line.
The Trail that follows the Stream is considered as the Thru-Trail and is well marked in WHITE. RECOMMENDED ROUTE
2.4mi When we decided to take the orange trail, Jessie’s Trail, it became more challenging. Coming past Hartford Road gain, you can take a mini detour at the Water fall to add a nice hill. 3. Trail sucks, too many horses and rangers are nasty. When you get to bottom Road can do the loop on either side of the river and finish with flat nice ride bck to Hartford.Great network of trails. Trail is flat between Hartford and Bottom Road. There are many pedestrians with pets, even though it is clearly stated that animals are not allowed. EASY 4.3 mi. They offer a great variety of trails for every level & are a lot less crowded than the Big Gunpowder Trails. However if you turn to the left away from the bridge you will see it. I’d wear bug spray and long pants. The trial starts in the white blazed trail and moves to the orange blazed trail. Really no quarry to see, but nice hike. Technically these are still considered in the Little Gunpowder but they are not directly connected unless you want to do 2 or 3 miles of road biking.They are all great. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.In the CENTRAL area of The Gunpowder Falls State Park is some very easy trails to be found.
I recommend starting on white trail and coming back on the blue near the river if you start at the Mill.Great network of trails. You really have to look for the start of the orange trail, it is marked with a sign that says Jesse's Trail, which my oldest pointed out he didn't think was right because it is painted in red. Little Gunpowder Trail Loop is a 2.1 kilometer lightly trafficked loop trail located near Kingsville, Maryland that features a waterfall. This is a moderate loop trail in Gunpowder Falls State Park Pleasantville Area. Elevation wasn’t tough, we only encountered maybe 10-12 other people during the 1.5 hours who were mostly bikers (all very kind when passing), and it was very shady.

North from Jerusalem Mill parking lot, the LG trail gets technical but loops with another blue blaze trail & some nice powerlines that are rideable. You may see a few hikers and dog walkers, but this is horse country, so mind the piles. Some nice rock gardens and hills. Our pup enjoyed it too! A few challenging climbs with lots of fun downhills. Both Hikers and Bikers share the trails in this location, so the Bikers are maintaining the Trails quite well. From the Mill to Bel Air Rd is roughly 2.2Miles, cross Bel Air and it is another mile to Harford Rd. If it's muddy, stick to the Blue & Yellow trails; they dry quicker.For shorter rides: ride north from parking lot on white blaze & loop back following the blue trail.
