I was suffering from a flu and a sore throat Moone Boy caused me a lot of pain I laughed so much. As an Irish person from that era I just love this but I think it crosses over as it covers an era of innocence and simplicity.

What a great concept. It is the first ever series I bought that I finished , 5 episodes the first night and 1 and the extras the next morning. Would I buy a sequel?

This semi-autobiographical series is written by and stars Chris O'Dowd as the imaginary friend of 11 year old Martin, the youngest child in the large, loud Moone family.Martin's twelfth birthday takes a bad turn when his new bicycle gets trashed by bullies. Anyhow, congrats to Mr O'Dowd, et al for this wonderful series. I love how instead of the iconic historic events like the Berlin Wall are more of a background than something life-changing.
The young actor playing the boy was excellent, as were most of the cast, but overall it just didn't come across to me. Bought this as a present for my friend living in the UK, having missed the first series. Due to having to wait for his sisters to use the bathroom Martin finds himself over-sleeping and Sinead takes advantage of this to put eye shadow and make-up on him,so that when he innocently arrives at school it is assumed he is gay. sweet look at growing up in the late 80s in western ireland by comic actor chris o'dowd. This show is great, quirky, innocent, and great viewing that the entire family can watch together (rare to find something that will entertain everyone at the same time.) This series is so sweet & funny, I wish I could have gone on to Season 3 but they are originally released through Hulu, which requires yet another subscription, so I'll wait until Amazon gets it (season 3 was only recently released). I love the Irish humor and relationship Martins parents have with him and the family. Witty dialogue at a perfect pace. the parents are often clueless but without being disrespectful. Amazon has Seasons 1 & 2.

It a very funny yet sweet story of a boy growing up in Ireland. I appreciate the references to “historical” eras (aka the 90s) and know that they grew up to be lovely — but often confused— adults. The idea of looking into the mind of a young man who is trying to deal with the difficulties os surviving school in an atmosphere of filled with bullies and other humiliations was done in a very entertaining style.The film had merit, but it was the type of thing where everything surrounds just a few jokes. Danny is a man of the world and Martin turns to him for information on the birds and the bees,much to the annoyance of Liam - and Sean,who,seeing himself as redundant,hangs out with 'Crunchie' Haystacks,another boy's imaginary friend.
