There were a lot of kids standing next to the flooded roadway encouraging the drivers to drive thru the low areas at a fast speed in order to spray them with the water. There are plenty of hiking opportunities and even some neat babbling water crossings. !This has become one of my favorite places to relax in Iowa. Beautiful place to go! Slim ... It’s so crowded. This park is beautiful. Wear shoes you don't care about, because they might get soaked or muddy. How cool is that?Great for people who love activity and the outdoors. Who knew? To find this level of nature and moderate trail hiking only 45 minutes of downtown Des Moines is pretty neat. We waded through the flooded area. This is a really nice state park worth a visit. There are a lot of choices, you can stay on steady ground or hike the hills which have assorted trails. I know one of their trails is handicap accessible which is great. Book a Campsite or a Day Use Site.
