It's a bit of a joyless book, but sometimes life is a joyless thing. There is a lot here that is unusual and unorthodox, from the anti-chronological structure that swings back and forth like a butterfly knife to the emptiness of the lead character. The main character is named Pilgrim ( interesting don't you think?).
